Attendance and Punctuality
For all attendance matters, including sending proofs of absence, email:
We take very seriously our responsibility to educate your child and want to work in partnership with you so that your child gets an excellent education in order that their life’s opportunities are maximised.
It is worth remembering that for the majority of children regular attendance at school is the norm. Do not let your child become one of the exceptions.
If you have any concerns or difficulties with your child’s attendance, please feel free to contact the school.
If a school can improve attendance by 1%, they will see a 5-6% improvement in attainment.

Please help us and your child by ensuring their attendance remains above 95%, allowing them to achieve their potential.
Important information regarding attendance
As a parent or carer you have a legal duty to ensure that your child attends school every day and as a school, we want to help you meet that duty.
If your child is too unwell to attend school, you will need to contact the school on the first day and subsequent days in any of the following ways:
· Via the School Spider App.
· By calling the school before between 7.45am and 9.00am
· By emailing the school on attendance @southgrovenprimary15.org
We are able to authorise most absences for illness . However, where we have a genuine and reasonable doubt about the authenticity of the illnesses, we must ask parents for evidence, for example several one off days for illness.
We are unable to authorise an absence due to an adults or siblings appointment. It is expected that alternative arrangement will be made by the parent or carer so our pupil will be in school.
We are only able to authorise 1 day for Religious Observances, for example Eid.
We are no longer able to authorise absences in term time for trips abroad or in this country including those made for medical appointments or treatment.
Government guidance states that if a child is absent for 10 sessions (5 days) in a 10 week period, the school must consider issuing the parents or carers with a fine. We will continue to do this, being guided by Haringey Education Welfare Service who issue the fines.
Please continue to ensure that your child or children are ready in their class to learn at 8.55am. For the main school, doors open at 8.40am
